Immigration Medical Examinations for Australia - Complex Cases and Gradings
This presentation will provide guidance on how Australian panel physicians should be grading the immigration medical examination, along with an overview of complex cases. The session will include half an hour for Q & A.
Clinical Tuberculosis Hot Topics in the US
This session will cover clinical tuberculosis hot topics in the United States. We will review how exposure to and infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis can progress to TB disease. We will further discuss current tools and strategies used in the United States to optimize both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant TB diagnosis, and treatment.

Australia's Migration System
This session will provide an update on Australia’s migration program for 2024-25, including of visa pathways such as the Pacific Labour Mobility Scheme and the Refugee and Humanitarian Program. An update on the Australian Government’s review of the migration system will also be provided. There will be an update on the growth and expansion of the Australian panel network over the past 18 months, including information on Australia’s assurance findings, trends and common errors including of Departure Health Checks for refugee and humantarian visa holders. An update on any recent or anticipated health policies to ensure that Australia continues to adequately screen for highest health risks will be provided.

Ethics/Integrity/Biomedical Issues + interactive break out session
The presentation will cover the fundamentals of medical ethics and discuss ethical and integrity considerations in immigration health screening such as informed consent, pre and post-test counselling and conflicts of interest. Includes a short break followed by a case study workshop.
Focus on the Canadian IME (EN)
This presentation will review key steps required for the successful completion of the IME. Topics may include, but are not limited to: goals of an IME, service standards, technical instructions, routine tests, specialist consults and furtherance requests, ID concerns and steps to troubleshoot common issues in eMedical.
New Zealand Technical Instructions Updates
The session will provide an overview of the recently updated Immigration New Zealand Panel Member Instructions (INZ1216). Topics will include recent changes, the new structure of the INZ1216, Panel Performance Review (PPR) and policy and procedural updates.

IME Conduct – Interactive session on the doctor/patient consultation for IMEs
This will be an interactive session on the doctor/patient consultation for IMEs. We will review different stages of the IME, including the chaperone question, interpreting services, identity checks and photograph requirements etc. There will be role-playing activities and case study discussions.

This presentation aims to familiarize IRCC panel members with the CXR grading system which will include case studies and guidelines pertaining to radiological abnormalities that are relevant to IRCCs health screening process.
US Mental Health Technical Instructions
This session will cover the US mental health screening requirements. It will include information on adequate use of the CDC Technical Instructions for US entry and the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5) to determine the classifications in the following applicant cases.
